Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek<\/strong> releases on November 13, 2026<\/strong>, and Wizards of the Coast pulled the covers off it during a First Look stream on July 14, 2026. The headline for most players isn’t Kirk, Picard, or the Borg \u2014 it’s the ten shock lands<\/strong> sitting quietly in the set list.<\/p>\n\n

This is a full, Standard-legal Universes Beyond<\/em> expansion (set code TRK<\/strong>), not a Commander-only side product. It comes with Play Boosters, four Commander precons, a new ability word, a returning mechanic, and a shock land reprint that fixes a problem Standard has had since last August.<\/p>\n\n

Here’s everything confirmed so far \u2014 every card in this article is verified against Scryfall’s live set data, not spoiler-season rumor.<\/p>\n\n

MTG Star Trek release date and products<\/h2>\n\n

Star Trek launches November 13, 2026<\/strong>, and preorders are already open through local game stores, TCGplayer, and Amazon. Three set codes ship together: TRK<\/strong> (the main 61-card expansion), TRC<\/strong> (the Commander cards), and SDS<\/strong> (“Stardates,” a bonus sheet).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Collector Boosters also carry something Magic has never done at this scale: seven different signed cards<\/strong> featuring Star Trek actors, at roughly 250 copies of each, seeded randomly. Those will be lottery-ticket rare \u2014 treat them as a bonus, not a reason to buy a case.<\/p>\n\n

The real story: all ten shock lands are back \u2014 and their rotation finally syncs<\/h2>\n\n

This is the part that actually moves Standard, and it’s more interesting than “shock lands are getting reprinted.”<\/p>\n\n

Shock lands have been trickling back into Standard staggered<\/em>, five at a time. Five of them (Stomping Ground, Watery Grave, Sacred Foundry, Godless Shrine, Breeding Pool) arrived in Edge of Eternities<\/strong> on August 1, 2025. The other five (Blood Crypt, Steam Vents, Temple Garden, Overgrown Tomb, Hallowed Fountain) landed in Lorwyn Eclipsed<\/strong> on January 23, 2026.<\/p>\n\n

That split is a real problem. A card’s Standard clock resets to its most recent printing, so the Edge of Eternities five were scheduled to rotate out of Standard months before<\/em> the Lorwyn Eclipsed five \u2014 meaning Standard would spend a stretch with half a shock land cycle. Half a cycle is a warped format: Rakdos and Azorius decks keep their untapped duals while Gruul and Dimir lose theirs, purely by printing accident.<\/p>\n\n

Printing all ten in Star Trek resets every shock land’s rotation clock to November 2026 simultaneously<\/strong>, ending the stagger. The full cycle now lives and dies together.<\/p>\n\n

There’s a collector angle too: every shock land also gets an LCARS-frame alternate art<\/strong> \u2014 full-art, textless versions styled after the Starfleet computer interface. Wizards has never printed textless shock lands before.<\/p>\n\n

Star Trek’s mechanics: one new ability word, one returning fan-favorite<\/h2>\n\n

Star Trek runs four named mechanics. Two things worth getting right here, because the coverage has been sloppy about it:<\/p>\n\n

Federation (new)<\/h3>\n\n

An ability word that rewards creature-type diversity. Hoshi Sato, Exolinguist<\/strong> reads: “Federation<\/em> \u2014 When Hoshi Sato enters, look at the top X cards of your library, where X is the number of creature types among non-Borg<\/strong> creatures you control.”<\/p>\n\n

Note the wording \u2014 non-Borg<\/em>. That’s not flavor text; it’s the set’s central design tension, and it’s clever.<\/p>\n\n

Assimilate (new)<\/h3>\n\n

The Borg’s mechanic, and the counterweight to Federation. From Borg Queen, Perfection Manifest<\/strong>: “assimilate target creature card from an opponent’s graveyard. (Put it onto the battlefield under your control with a +1\/+1 counter. It’s a Borg artifact creature and loses all other creature types.)<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n

Read those two together and the design snaps into focus. Federation counts creature types. Assimilate destroys creature types.<\/strong> The Borg literally erase the diversity the Federation is rewarded for \u2014 mechanically, not just thematically. You are being pushed to pick a side, and a deck that tries to do both actively fights itself. That’s the best kind of Universes Beyond design: the flavor is<\/em> the rules text.<\/p>\n\n

Face a Dilemma (new)<\/h3>\n\n

A trigger condition on modal spells. Seven of Nine<\/strong> shows the template: “Whenever you face a dilemma, draw a card. (You face a dilemma as you choose one or more modes for a spell or ability.)<\/em>” Modal-matters as an archetype \u2014 expect charms, commands, and Kirk-style “choose one” creatures to be the payoff engines.<\/p>\n\n

Spacecraft and Station (returning \u2014 not new)<\/h3>\n\n

You’ll see outlets calling Spacecraft\/Station a new Star Trek mechanic. It isn’t. Station debuted in Edge of Eternities<\/strong> in August 2025, and there are already 29 Spacecraft cards in the game outside of Star Trek. Star Trek is bringing it back<\/em> \u2014 which honestly makes more sense than inventing something new, since a Star Trek set without functioning starships would be absurd.<\/p>\n\n

U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class<\/strong> is the showcase: a {3} Legendary Artifact \u2014 Spacecraft with “Station (Tap another creature you control: Put charge counters equal to its power on this Spacecraft. Station only as a sorcery. It’s an artifact creature at 7+.)<\/em>” At 7+ charge counters it becomes a 4\/5 with flying and vigilance, and whenever charge counters land on it for the first time each turn, you exile the top card of your library and may play it that turn.<\/p>\n\n

Every Star Trek card revealed so far<\/h2>\n\n

As of this writing, 38 cards are live on Scryfall across the three set codes, out of 73 total. Here’s the confirmed non-land list \u2014 these are not yet purchasable, since the set doesn’t release until November 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
