The one idea that explains the whole set: Strixhaven, reflected<\/h2>\n\n

If you want a single sentence to hang everything else on, it is this: Reality Fracture is Strixhaven with every color relationship flipped from enemy to ally.<\/strong> That is not marketing flavor \u2014 it is the literal design of the set, and once you see it, all the “weird” cards snap into place.<\/p>\n\n

Strixhaven’s five colleges were each built on an enemy<\/em>-color pair \u2014 Silverquill (white-black), Prismari (blue-red), Witherbloom (black-green), Lorehold (red-white), Quandrix (green-blue). Hexhaven keeps the same five subjects but rebuilds each school on an allied<\/em>-color pair instead, swapping exactly one color. The history school is still about history \u2014 it is just no longer red-white Lorehold, it is now blue-white Fatehold, obsessed with predicting the future instead of recovering the past. The same reflection logic is why the planeswalkers show up in shifted colors: this is the Echoverse, an alternate reality that Jace Beleren created, and everything in it is a twisted copy of something you already know.<\/p>\n\n

The Echoverse story: how the Metronome Arc ends<\/h2>\n\n

Reality Fracture brings the multi-set Metronome Arc to a close. The short version: Jace Beleren has built an alternate Multiverse \u2014 the Echoverse<\/strong>, populated by mirrored reflections of familiar characters \u2014 and it begins to bleed into and invade the real Multiverse. The set finally reveals what Jace has wanted from the being called Loot all along, and what his plans for reality actually are. You do not need to have followed every set since 2023 to enjoy the cards, but this is a genuine finale, so expect the story cards to pay off threads that have been running for three years.<\/p>\n\n

The five colleges of Hexhaven<\/h2>\n\n

Hexhaven is Reality Fracture’s answer to Strixhaven’s campus. Five schools, five allied-color pairs, each the dark-mirror of a Strixhaven original with one color changed and its philosophy twisted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tell that this is deliberate: Strixhaven’s colleges were all<\/em> enemy pairs and Hexhaven’s are all<\/em> allied pairs. That is a clean, total inversion, and it is going to matter for deckbuilding \u2014 the archetypes you draft here point in different color directions than the ones you learned on Strixhaven.<\/p>\n\n

Mechanics: Prepared returns, and every pack is a mirror<\/h2>\n\n

Prepared<\/strong> is the headline keyword, brought back from Secrets of Strixhaven. Its reminder text: “While it’s prepared, you may cast a copy of its spell. Doing so unprepares it.”<\/em> In plain terms, a Prepared permanent is sitting on the battlefield holding a stored copy of a spell; once some condition flips it to “prepared,” you get to fire that copy for free value, and then it powers down until it becomes prepared again. It rewards you for hitting a threshold and then cashing it in \u2014 a very Strixhaven-magic-school feel, which is exactly the point.<\/p>\n\n

The second structural mechanic is the set’s identity: every Play Booster contains a mirrored pair<\/strong> \u2014 an existing character and their Echoverse reflection, adapted into new colors. That is where the eye-popping cards come from.<\/p>\n\n

A mono-blue Chandra and a one-mana white Liliana are the kind of cards MTG players screenshot and argue about for a week.
