Between the main set and its Commander deck there are 89 cards that can be your commander: 88 legendary creatures and one planeswalker. More than a quarter of the main set is legendary creatures.

Most rankings of a new set’s commanders are one writer’s opinion. This one is a count. We pulled all 89 from Scryfall and looked up how many decks each one already leads on EDHREC on release day. The answer is 47,564 decks, and they are not spread evenly: the top 15 commanders hold 79.4% of them, and 47 of the 89 lead fewer than 100 decks each.

The other finding is about price. You can buy all 89 commanders for $240.51 at today’s prices, and 61 of them cost less than a dollar. The third most-built commander in the set, Tam, the Possibility, costs $0.51. Below: the full ranked table, the top ten in detail, the 33 characters who were printed twice in different colours, the cards that are better in the 99 than in the command zone, and the best commanders under $1.

How many commanders are in Reality Fracture?

There are 89, counted from Scryfall on release day with the search is:commander across both set codes. The main set (FRA) has 75 legendary creatures. The Commander deck, Multiverse Reforged (FRC), adds 13 more legendary creatures and Jace, Multiverse Architect, a planeswalker whose text says he can be your commander. All 89 are legal in Commander.

Fact

Number

Cards that can be your commander

89 (88 legendary creatures + 1 planeswalker)

In the main set (FRA)

75 of 285 cards (26.3%)

In the Commander deck (FRC)

14 of 87 cards

New cards / reprints

86 / 3

By rarity

9 mythic, 24 rare, 56 uncommon

By colours

63 mono-coloured, 6 colourless, 13 two-colour, 2 three-colour, 2 four-colour, 3 five-colour

Average mana value

4.13 (45 cost three or less)

Standard-legal

75 (the main-set ones)

Decks on EDHREC, 2 October 2026

47,564

Price of all 89, 2 October 2026

$240.51

Commanders under $1

61 (together $23.60)

Three things stand out. The first is the rarity split: 56 of the 89 are uncommons, which means more than half of the set’s 109 uncommons are legendary creatures. The second is how cheap they are to cast: 45 of the 89 cost three mana or less. The third is that only three are reprints. Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive and Yargle, Glutton of Urborg both come from Dominaria (2018), and Akroma, Angel of Fury is from Planar Chaos (2007). The other 86 are new cards.

If you want the story behind the set, the mechanics and the product list, that’s in our Reality Fracture set guide. You can also browse every card on our Reality Fracture set page and the Reality Fracture Commander page.

Every Reality Fracture commander, ranked by decks

The table ranks all 89 by the number of decks each one leads on EDHREC as of 2 October 2026. Prices are the TCGplayer market price reported by Scryfall on the same day for the regular non-foil printing. “Where” tells you whether the card is in booster packs (main set) or only in the Commander deck.

One warning before you read it: the three reprints have had years to collect decks. Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive sits at number 10 with 2,000 decks, but those were built over eight years. Every other number in the top 20 belongs to a brand-new card.

Commander

Rank

Colour identity

Mana Art by Volkan Baǵa. Image via Scryfall; © Wizards of the Coast.

The ten most-built new commanders

These are the ten new cards with the most decks (Tetsuko, the reprint at number 10 in the table, is skipped, so Codie moves up a place). For each one we list what the card does, taken from its Oracle text, and what people are building with it, taken from the theme tags on its EDHREC page.

1. Jace, Multiverse Architect (5,364 decks)

Jace is a four-colour planeswalker (white, blue, black, red) for five mana, and he leads 11.3% of all Reality Fracture commander decks on his own. His +1 draws two cards and puts one on the bottom of your library. His −3 exiles another creature or planeswalker you control, then reveals cards from the top of your library until it hits a creature or planeswalker and puts that card onto the battlefield. He also protects himself: at the start of combat on each opponent’s turn, that player has to pay {2} or their creatures can’t attack your Jaces.

The −3 is why “Polymorph” is the third biggest theme on his page (142 decks) after Tokens (216) and Planeswalkers (213). You fill the deck with token makers, keep the number of real creature and planeswalker cards small, and every −3 turns a 1/1 token into one of the few bombs in the library. Proteus Staff is in 3,428 of his decks for the same reason. If a planeswalker in the command zone is new to you, our guide to planeswalker commanders covers how commander damage and loyalty work for them.

2. The Ur-Sphinx (3,336 decks)

The Ur-Sphinx is a white-blue-black 10/10 flier for nine mana with eminence: as long as it’s in the command zone or on the battlefield, your other Sphinx spells cost {1} less. Whenever one or more of your Sphinxes attack, each player mills that many cards, and you may cast one card from each player’s milled cards without paying its mana cost.

This is a Sphinx typal commander, and the decks show it. Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign is in 3,017 of the 3,336 decks, which is 90%. Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign and Magister Sphinx are close behind. The discount applies from the command zone, so the deck works before you ever cast the commander.

3. Tam, the Possibility (3,302 decks)

Tam costs {1}{G}{U} and is a 2/4, but her colour identity is all five colours because of her ability: for {W}{U}{B}{R}{G} and a tap, she proliferates once for each different planeswalker type among the planeswalkers you control. She also makes your planeswalker spells cost {1} less.

Almost every Tam deck is a planeswalker deck. “Planeswalkers” is tagged on 244 of them, more than five times the next theme. Oath of Teferi (2,706 decks) and The Chain Veil (2,203) are the most common cards. With three different planeswalkers out, one activation adds three loyalty to each of them. She’s a main-set rare and costs $0.51. See our proliferate guide for what else those extra counters can touch.

4. Vraska, Soul of Stone (3,039 decks)

The blue-red-white Vraska is a 3/3 for three. Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, you create a 1/1 Sculpture Treasure, an artifact creature token that can be tapped and sacrificed for one mana of any colour. Your artifact creatures have vigilance, so the tokens can attack and still be spent as mana afterwards.

She pays you a body and a mana for every spell, which suits two kinds of deck. EDHREC tags 181 of her decks as Artifacts, 155 as Tokens and 97 as Spellslinger. Skullclamp is in 2,000 of them: a 1/1 that you can turn into two cards or one mana is exactly what that card wants.

5. Ingris Stingerquill (2,715 decks)

Ingris is the black-red Elder Sphinx, a 1/4 flier for {B}{R}{R}. Whenever a creature you control attacks, that creature deals 1 damage to each opponent. For {4} you create a 2/2 token named Cadet and give all your creatures haste until end of turn.

In a four-player game, ten small attackers deal 30 damage across the table before blockers are declared. The top themes are Aggro (127), Burn (117) and Infect (99). Infect shows up because the attacking creature is the one dealing the damage, so a creature with infect gives every opponent a poison counter just for attacking. Ingris is the most expensive of the five Elder Sphinxes after Kwia at $10.40.

Ingris Stingerquill, the black-red Elder Sphinx. Every creature you attack with deals 1 damage to each opponent. Art by Chase Stone. Image via Scryfall; © Wizards of the Coast.

6. Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel (2,618 decks)

A white-black Niv-Mizzet: a 4/4 flier for six that taps to make each opponent lose 1 life while you gain 1. Whenever you gain life, you may pay that much life, and if you do, you draw that many cards. He only comes in the Commander deck.

Lifegain is tagged on 225 of his decks. Soul Warden (2,127 decks) and Authority of the Consuls (1,969) turn every creature that enters into a card. Because you pay back the life you gained, the cards are the payoff and your life total stays where it was. Our lifegain guide has the full list of triggers worth running.

7. Aerid Konstrari (2,461 decks)

The red-green Elder Sphinx is a 5/4 flier for four mana. When it enters or dies you create a Heartwood token, a red and green artifact that taps for {R} or {G}. For {6} you make another Heartwood and Aerid gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is the number of artifacts you control.

Artifacts (157) and Tokens (108) lead its themes. It leaves a mana source behind every time it enters or dies, which helps pay the commander tax, and Treasure, Food and Clue tokens all count for the pump.

8. Denzilore Fatehold (2,429 decks)

The white-blue Elder Sphinx has flash and flying, a 3/4 for four. Whenever you scry or surveil, you put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control. It doesn’t matter how many cards you look at, so a one-mana Opt (1,928 decks) grows the whole team at instant speed and Preordain (1,770) does the same on your own turn.

+1/+1 Counters is tagged on 218 decks, Scry on 113 and Surveil on 71. Any land that surveils when it enters also triggers it. Our surveil guide lists all of those lands.

9. Kwia Vigorbloom (2,429 decks)

Tied with Denzilore to the deck. The green-white Elder Sphinx is a 6/6 for six with flying, vigilance, lifelink and ward {2}. Whenever you gain life, you create a Lotus token that can be sacrificed for three mana of one colour. That triggers only once each turn, but it can trigger on every player’s turn, so with a Soul Warden (2,154 decks) out, any turn in which a creature enters makes a Lotus. At $14.74 it’s the most expensive of the five Sphinxes.

10. Codie, Ravenous Codex (1,922 decks)

Codie costs three generic mana and has a five-colour identity. Whenever you cast a prepared spell, you copy it. For {W}{U}{B}{R}{G} and a tap, each creature you control becomes prepared. The five Emeritus creatures each appear in 86% to 88% of Codie decks. If you haven’t played with the mechanic, start with our prepared guide. Codie is a main-set rare and costs $0.46.

The next five

Four more new commanders lead over 1,000 decks, and all four come from the Commander deck. Nissa, Leyline Tamer (1,760) is a four-colour landfall commander with no green in her identity: each land draws a card, and the first one each turn also puts a creature from your library onto the battlefield. Dack Fayden, Helping Hand (1,532) gives each opponent a creature from your deck that is goaded for the rest of the game. Omnath, Locus of the Void (1,508) is a colourless Omnath whose unspent mana turns colourless and stays. Avacyn, Angel of Horror (1,368) returns every nontoken creature of yours that dies at the next end step. The next one down is Karn, Gilded Guardian (764), the main set’s five-colour artifact commander.

What the numbers say

Fifteen commanders hold 79% of the decks

Fifteen of the 89 lead more than 1,000 decks each. Together they hold 37,783 of the 47,564 decks, which is 79.4%. The top five alone hold 37.3%. At the other end, 47 commanders lead fewer than 100 decks and 26 lead fewer than 25. The median commander in the set, Ghalta the Unstoppable, has 74.

Players are building the multicolour ones

Only 20 of the 89 have two or more colours, and those 20 hold 33,841 decks, or 71.1% of the total. The 69 mono-coloured and colourless commanders share the other 28.9%. Without the three reprints, which are all mono-coloured, the multicolour share is 75.3%.

Most uncommon legends aren’t being built around

The 54 new uncommon legends lead 4,646 decks between them, which is 9.8% of the total and an average of 86 decks each. The nine mythics lead 18,186 and the 24 rares lead 22,417. The best-performing new uncommon is Loot, the Anomaly at number 19 with 429 decks. That doesn’t make the uncommons bad cards. It means most of them are doing their work in the 99, which we cover further down.

The Commander deck punches above its size

The 14 commanders that come only in Multiverse Reforged lead 18,791 decks, 39.5% of the total, from 15.7% of the cards. Seven of the top 15 are from the deck.

Reality Fracture commanders by colour identity

Every one of the ten two-colour pairs has at least one commander, but the five allied pairs got the best ones: the five Elder Sphinxes are all mythic and all allied-colour. There are only two three-colour commanders, two four-colour commanders (both without green) and three five-colour commanders.

Colour identity

Commanders

Decks so far

Most-built

Colourless

6

2,113

Omnath, Locus of the Void (1,508)

Mono-black

14

3,068

Avacyn, Angel of Horror (1,368)

Mono-white

14

2,856

Dack Fayden, Helping Hand (1,532)

Mono-red

13

1,195

Akroma, Angel of Fury (294)

Mono-blue

12

3,568

Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive (2,000)

Mono-green

10

923

Pia, Aether Ascetic (353)

Orzhov (WB)

2

2,684

Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel (2,618)

Boros (RW)

2

387

Tamiyo, Upriser Crowned (268)

Golgari (BG)

2

67

Vraska, the Cutting Glare (56)

Rakdos (BR)

1

2,715

Ingris Stingerquill (2,715)

Gruul (RG)

1

2,461

Aerid Konstrari (2,461)

Azorius (WU)

1

2,429

Denzilore Fatehold (2,429)

Selesnya (GW)

1

2,429

Kwia Vigorbloom (2,429)

Dimir (UB)

1

662

Uldaros Theorix (662)

Izzet (UR)

1

387

Saheeli, Jewel of Avishkar (387)

Simic (GU)

1

133

Kiora of Salt and Sand (133)

Esper (WUB)

1

3,336

The Ur-Sphinx (3,336)

Jeskai (WUR)

1

3,039

Vraska, Soul of Stone (3,039)

Four-colour, no green (WUBR)

2

7,124

Jace, Multiverse Architect (5,364)

Five-colour (WUBRG)

3

5,988

Tam, the Possibility (3,302)

Green is the least represented colour. Mono-green also has the fewest decks of any single colour (923 across ten commanders).

Two of the five-colour commanders don’t look five-colour. Tam costs green and blue and Codie costs only generic mana, but both have an ability that costs {W}{U}{B}{R}{G}. A card’s colour identity counts every mana symbol on it, including the ones in its rules text, so both can lead a five-colour deck. That rule and the rest of deck construction are in our step-by-step Commander deck guide.

The 33 mirrored pairs: same character, different colours

Reality Fracture is set in a copy of the Multiverse where familiar characters turned out differently, and the legends show it on the cards. By our reading, 66 of the main set’s 75 commanders are one of 33 characters printed twice. Thirty of those pairs share a name (two Liliana cards, two Karn cards, two Yargle cards). Three are twisted names: Massacre Girl and Rescue Girl, Tinybones and Titanbones, and Thalia, the Survivor and Geist of Saint Thalia.

We checked the colours of every pair. No pair shares a single colour. In all 33, the two versions have no colour in common. Except for Karn and Traxos, where one version is colourless and fits in any deck, a deck led by one version can’t include the other. The nine commanders without a partner are the five Elder Sphinxes, Tam, Codie, Gideon the Oathless and Emrakul, the Exigent Doom.

Character

More-built With seven cards in your graveyard you can sacrifice another creature to give him -2/-0, which makes him hit harder. If you play in a pod that uses the bracket system, our Commander brackets guide explains where a new deck is likely to land.

Frequently asked questions

How many commanders are in Reality Fracture?

There are 89 on Scryfall as of release day: 75 legendary creatures in the main set, plus 13 legendary creatures and one planeswalker (Jace, Multiverse Architect) in the Multiverse Reforged Commander deck. 86 are new cards and three are reprints.

What is the most popular Reality Fracture commander?

Jace, Multiverse Architect, with 5,364 decks on EDHREC on 2 October 2026. The Ur-Sphinx is second with 3,336 and Tam, the Possibility is third with 3,302. Tam is the most popular commander from the main set.

Can Jace, Multiverse Architect be your commander?

Yes. He’s a planeswalker, but the last line of his text is “Jace, Multiverse Architect can be your commander.” His colour identity is white, blue, black and red.

Are Reality Fracture commanders legal in Standard?

The 75 from the main set are Standard-legal. The 14 from the Commander deck are not. They’re legal in Commander, Legacy and Vintage.

What is the most expensive Reality Fracture commander?

Avacyn, Angel of Horror at $41.42 on release day, followed by Emrakul, the Exigent Doom at $29.29 and Samut, Tyrant of Naktamun at $16.91. Those are prices for the regular printing. Special collector versions cost more.

What is the best budget Reality Fracture commander?

By deck count, Tam, the Possibility ($0.51) and Codie, Ravenous Codex ($0.46) are the most-built commanders under $1. For a cheap deck as well as a cheap commander, look at the mono-coloured uncommons: Loot, the Anomaly, Ghalta the Immovable, Tinybones, Pocket Nuisance and Koth, the Geomancer are all under 50 cents.

Why is Tam, the Possibility a five-colour commander?

Her mana cost is {1}{G}{U}, but her activated ability costs {W}{U}{B}{R}{G}. Colour identity includes every mana symbol on the card, so her identity is all five colours. The same is true of Codie, Ravenous Codex, whose mana cost is {3}.

How many Commander decks does Reality Fracture have?

One: Multiverse Reforged, a four-colour deck led by Jace, Multiverse Architect. Its set code is FRC and Scryfall lists 87 different cards for it, 14 of which can be a commander.

Which Reality Fracture characters have two versions?

Thirty-three of them, including Liliana, Karn, Vraska, Saheeli, Kiora, Koth, Samut, Yuriko, Edgar, Lyra, Loot, Fblthp and Yargle. Each character’s two cards have completely different colour identities. The full list is in the pairs table above.

Where do these numbers come from?

Card data, legality and prices come from the Scryfall API, read on 2 October 2026. Deck counts come from each card’s EDHREC commander page and card page on the same day. EDHREC counts decks uploaded to public deck sites, so the totals will keep growing as people open the set. We’ll update this page once the first few weeks of decks are in.

All 89 Reality Fracture commanders ranked by EDHREC deck counts on release day,
