Control the Rage

Control the Rage is a Modern Izzet (blue-red) spells/tempo deck that mixes cheap interaction with aggressive prowess-style threats. It aims to win by landing creatures like Monastery Swiftspear, Sprite Dragon, Balmor, Young Pyromancer, and Third Path Iconoclast, then chaining cheap instants and sorceries to grow the board, trigger token makers, and push fast combat damage.

The deck’s key synergies come from its dense spell package: Lightning Bolt, Unholy Heat, Fiery Impulse, Wizard’s Lightning, Electrolyze, Consider, Faithless Looting, and counters like Mana Leak, Counterspell, and Make Disappear. These spells both control the opponent’s board and fuel threats that reward spellcasting. Goblin Electromancer helps reduce spell costs for explosive turns, while Balmor can turn a wide board of tokens into a sudden lethal attack. Overall, it plays like an aggressive tempo/control hybrid, winning through incremental spell value and burst damage.
