Smaug the Magnificent

Smaug the Magnificent is a Rakdos (black-red) Commander aristocrats/Treasure ramp deck built around Smaug the Impenetrable and a heavy Treasure-token package. The deck’s main plan is to generate lots of Treasures through cards like Goldspan Dragon, Xorn, Professional Face-Breaker, Captain Lannery Storm, Rapacious Dragon, Hoarding Ogre, Brass’s Bounty, and Big Score, then convert those artifacts into mana, damage, and life drain.

Its key synergies come from sacrificing Treasures and other artifacts for value with payoffs like Mayhem Devil, Disciple of the Vault, Nadier’s Nightblade, Reckless Fireweaver, Marionette Master, and Mahadi, Emporium Master. It also plays many sweepers and removal spells to control the board while setting up explosive turns.

The deck usually wins by amassing a huge Treasure hoard, then either:

• draining the table through artifact-sacrifice payoffs,
• casting a massive Exsanguinate, Torment of Hailfire, or Crackle with Power,
