Specters Of Attrition

Specters of Attrition is a mono-black midrange/attrition deck for Modern. It plays a classic discard-and-kill game plan, using Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek, Duress, Tourach, Dread Cantor, Ravenous Rats, and Hypnotic Specter to strip the opponent’s hand while backing that up with efficient removal like Fatal Push, Smother, Go for the Throat, and Sheoldred’s Edict.

Its key synergies revolve around grinding resources down: repeated discard pressures control and combo, while creatures like Dauthi Voidwalker and Withered Wretch disrupt graveyard strategies. Threats such as Nantuko Shade, Gifted Aetherborn, Graveborn Muse, and Mishra’s Factory help keep pressure on after the opponent is depleted. The deck aims to win by emptying the opponent’s hand, answering their board, and finishing with resilient creature beats and utility manlands.
